Thomas K. Nichols - Architect
Tom Nichols brings over 50 years
of experience and professional achievement in landscape architecture and design to the company he founded here on the Delmarva
Peninsula in 1983.
A native of Missouri, Mr. Nichols is a third-generation horticulturalist, with a degree in Landscape
Architecture from the University of Missouri. After several years of designing large homes and estates in St. Louis and New
York, he relocated to Maryland, near Washington D.C. As chief executive officer of J.H. Burton & Sons Landscape Contractors,
he has built many prestigious projects in the Washington area, among them The Embassy Row Hotel, the O. Ray Chalk House and
the Dulles Marriott. He also served as plant-material consultant for the National Gallery of Art, East Wing and for ATT Long
Lines in Oakton, Virginia. Throughout his career Mr. Nichols has worked with such premier architects as Thurman Donovan and
Dan Kiley.
Mr. Nichols is registered in Maryland to practice landscape architecture; he has been registered
since licensing was enacted in 1972 and is one of the few licensees on the Eastern Shore.
